MICHIGAN MEDICINE TURNER SENIOR RESOURCE CENTER

Available in Ann Arbor, the Turner Senior Resource Center (TSRC) offers many types of outreach programs and activities serving older adults. The programs include senior wellness programs, memory clubs, a housing bureau for to learn about options for housing and care for themselves or other adults they may be caring for, and more. AREA AGENCY ON AGING 1-B

For caregivers in Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw counties, the Area Agency on Aging 1-B provides local resources to older adults and their caregivers for things like transportation, food assistance, in-home care, caregiver coaching and workshops, and more. EXHALE FAMILY RESPITE PROGRAMS

DETROIT AREA AGENCY ON AGING

The Detroit Area Agency on Aging provides caregiver resources including· a personalized caregiver assessment, respite, events focused on caregivers as well as advocacy and training. They also provide caregiver education classes including courses to reduce stress, make tough decisions, locate helpful resources, and more. Click below to connect.

MICHIGAN VETERANS AFFAIRS AGENCY

Through the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, which is part of the VA, caregivers can apply for the Program for Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) which pays a loved one who is caring for a Veteran receiving care through the VA, and Program for General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS), which is for anyone caring for a Veteran and provides education, resources and access to support groups. Each VA Medical Center has a Caregiver Support Coordinator available to assist you with enrolling in these programs. For help, contact your local Caregiver Support Coordinator using the Caregiver Support Coordinator search tool, or call the VA Caregiver Support Line, at 1-855-260-3274. 

MICHIGAN LEGAL HELP

For caregivers in Michigan who may not be able to hire an attorney, but need legal assistance, Michigan Legal Help offers free self-help tools for dealing with issues like divorce and family problems, wills and estate planning, public assistance like food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid, social security and more. Once you put in your zip code, thousands of resources are provided for you and Findhelp even walks you through the next steps required for each resource

FINDHELP.ORG

Get to talk to an expert on the resources in your area, who will guide you through your need. Calls made to 2-1-1 are confidential and can be anonymous. This is a 24/7 service that you can contact to aid you in meeting basic needs such as; health care, housing, food, addiction and other resources tailored to your issue.

UNITED WAY 211

This is a website that specifically focuses on the elderly and their families. They have resources for caregivers and can provide you with the helpful agencies in your zip code. They also offer information on elderly rights, and can answer questions to educate you on rights and insurance benefits such as medicare/medicaid.
